Hydro Study  on the incident bc-hydro-overvoltage-investigation

A power surge on June 30th effected residents from Paldi to Mesachie Lake and resulted in the loss of much personal electronic equiptment, pumps, TVs, heat pumps, microwaves etc. The response from BC Hydro was to refer all requests for compensation to a contractors insurance adjuster as a 3rd party contractor was responsble for a tree falling on the hydro lines which caused the surge.  Hydro letter here… http://www.joeallan.ca/?attachment_id=260

The response from the adjuster was similiar to what others heard. See the response here……..adjuster-response-2

In frustration many residents contacted their CVRD Director Ian Morrison and he got the CVRD board to write a letter to Hydro on July 8th. See minutes here… regionalboardminutes-page7

As there did not seem to be a clear direction from Hydro on the whole issue and nearly four weeks had passed Director Morrison organized a public meeting, invited Hydro and advertised the meeting for July 30th at the Lake Cowichan Communitty Hall.  Approx 100 residents attended, the meeting notes are here….  july-30th-hydro-mtg

Damage Picture Gallery (sent your pics in)

Some pics of the damage caused to household equiptment, this is a recepticle that my neibour found not working several days after the surge.  It had the surge protector for his computer plugged in to it (which was destroyed along with the computer) and upon inspection it was found that the recepticle was burnt, the connector was burnt and off the wires and the wires were burnt.  http://www.joeallan.ca/?attachment_id=248
